What we store

When you create an account we store your email address and a hashed version of your password. If you sign in with Google we store the email address Google shares with us. While you use the app we store the data you enter yourself: the bills you create (name, amount, due date, recurrence) and the savings you record against them.

What we use it for

Your email address is used to sign you in, to send account emails (such as password resets and address verification) and to send you the bill reminders this app exists for. Your bill and savings data is used only to show you your own overview and to calculate your saving goals. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Forwarded invoices

Forwarding invoices is optional. If you never forward an email to your personal Bufferpot address, nothing in this section applies to you.

When you do forward one, we store the message as it arrived — the sending address, the subject, the message text and any PDF attachment — together with the details read out of it: the biller, the amount, the currency, the due date, any invoice or contract number, and any payment instructions printed on it. We keep the original so you can check what a bill was created from, and so a mistake can be undone.

We also store the list of email addresses you have approved to forward invoices into your account. An email from any other address is held until you approve it.

Who else sees it

To read a forwarded invoice, its text and any PDF attachment are sent to the Anthropic API (Claude), which returns the amount, due date and biller. Anthropic processes this on our behalf in order to answer that request. This is the only case where your data leaves our server, and it applies only to invoices you forward: your account details, your bills and your savings history are never sent anywhere.

If you would rather no invoice content left the server, do not use the forwarding address — every bill can be entered by hand instead.

Cookies

The app uses only functional cookies: a session cookie to keep you signed in and a CSRF cookie to protect forms. There are no tracking or advertising cookies. This marketing site sets no cookies at all and loads nothing from a third party.

How long we keep it

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from your profile page; this permanently removes your account together with all bills, savings history, reminder records and any invoices you forwarded, including their stored attachments.
